Is Wixi free?
Yes. Creating and joining watch parties on Wixi is completely free from any browser.
Do my friends need to install anything or make an account?
No. Guests just open Wixi in a browser and enter your 6-letter room code. No account or download is required to join. There is also a Wixi Android app, and app and web users can share the same room.
What can I watch together on Wixi?
YouTube videos, movies shared from Google Drive, and your own local video files. You can host any of these and everyone in the room watches in sync.
How does the sync work?
The host controls playback. Every play, pause, seek and speed change is broadcast to all viewers in real time, and Wixi automatically nudges any drifting players back to the correct moment.
Can we talk and video chat while watching?
Yes. Wixi has built-in voice chat, camera bubbles and live text chat with emoji reactions so you can react together in real time.
Is it private?
Rooms can be public or private. Local video files you share are sent directly to friends peer-to-peer and never pass through our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
